School Development

At The Grove Primary School, we are always striving for excellence and to ensure we are delivering the best possible education and life experiences for our children. In order to continue to grow as a school, we constantly evaluate and reflect upon all the work we do in school. Each academic year, we will as a school create our own School Development Plan. This development plan outlines exactly what we intend to do over the coming year to improve our school in all areas. Our current School improvement Priorities are shown below.

The school improvement priorities have been selected following extensive discussions and consultation with our teachers, governors, parents and pupils as well as representatives from the Local Authority and the wider community.

Priority 1:

Further develop leadership capacity and its impact across the school through extending distributed leadership into the subject leader role.

Governor lead: Rachael Wilkinson

Staff lead: Senior Leadership Team and subject leaders

Priority 2:

Ensure that children are equipped with the skills necessary to read, write well and the necessary numeracy skills for their stage in learning.

Governor lead: Lesley Kendall

Staff lead: Fiona Gargett and Emma Howe

Priority 3:

To improve opportunities for children to take responsibility of all aspects of their learning including opportunities for play to develop independence and resilience.

Governor lead: Michelle Thompson and Vikki Thompson

Staff lead: Carly Grundy

Priority 4:

To ensure that children attend school and are ready to learn.

Governor lead: Dawn Raine

Staff lead: Bernadette Atkinson

Priority 5:

Continue to develop our place in the community so that our children gain an understanding of their own identity.

Governor lead: Governing Body
